The practice of being mindful, or present is an excellent approach to stay clear of distractions. Most people are caught with worrying about the future or thinking about the past. It allows you to be focused only on the now, for it's all is available to you. Life is taking place right here, but you might be unable to see it due to being so worried about something that will never happen. It is the state of mind that you are in.
